This winter was always too mild to be true. And all kidding aside, the continuing specter of an ongoing drought has been with me for weeks now since the snowfall totals in this area are not merely below normal – they are significantly lower than the previous recorded lows.
But now, at a time of year where temperatures normally slowly begin to climb, we are being hit with extremely cold weather. According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for my location tomorrow is a daytime high of 13F/-10C with temperatures falling throughout the day to an overnight low of -7F/-21C – and with a windchill ranging down to -25F/-32C.
Extreme cold. Not my favorite. Fortunately not all that common, either.
We went shopping today and bought lots of chocolate so that we can spend Valentine’s weekend hiding indoors drinking tea, gorging on chocolate and binge-watching things on Netflix.
Have a happy (and warm) Valentine’s weekend.
“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.”
― Edith Sitwell
Photo taken same time last year. Very different weather.
