Tuesday’s Quotes June 21, 2016 – Travel time

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”
― Augustine of Hippo

As we prepare for what has become an annual road trip to the southwestern US to visit friends and scout out future retirement locations, I think a bit about the people I know that never wanted to travel. Those that have never ventured far from their own doors. And I often wonder how much that has colored their understanding of world events – or even issues facing neighboring states.  Certainly my own travels, both inside and outside of the US, have altered my own perceptions. To borrow a line from Jim Croce’s One Less Set of Footsteps “…after all it’s what we’ve done that makes us who we are”.

My intent while away is to keep this blog mostly on schedule, but I do apologize in advance for any timing lapses over the next couple of weeks.

“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.”
― Gustave Flaubert
