“A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water.”
— Carl Reiner
Bombogenesis – Strangely popular word in that past couple of years worth of weather. It was not a phrase that I learned when I took a meteorology course in college (to kill off a science requirement). NOAA tells me that it is “is a popular term that describes a midlatitude cyclone that rapidly intensifies.”. Well, okay, then…
In this case, the cyclone in question is a classic late winter nor’easter – dumping tons of rain or snow depending on where you happen to be. In my case, less snow than forecast further diminished by some rain and more wet snow. But definitely not a rain event. I took the picture above around 9am. Interestingly enough, there isn’t much for more accumulated snow visible now. But the heavy wet stuff has been falling all day.
Perfect day for staying inside.
Hopefully the weekend will be better.
